The City of Carver provides drinking water to its residents from a groundwater source: three wells ranging from 470 to 738 feet deep, that draw water from the Mt. Simon, Franconia-Eau Claire, and Franconia-Ironton-Galesville aquifers.
The City of Carver water hardness ranges from 22-24 grains of hardness.
The city can now treat up to 1 million gallons of water per day with it’s new water treatment plant that uses gravity filtration to remove iron and manganese.
The water distribution system consists of 20 miles of pipe, ranging from 6” in diameter to 12”, with 260 hydrants that are flushed yearly for maintenance.
The EPA has established two standards for additional contaminants in tap water:
MCL: Maximum Contaminant Level - The maximum allowable level of a certain contaminant
MCLG: Maximum Contaminant Level GOAL - The level where studies have found ZERO HEALTH RISKS, aka the "Health Limit"
Certain contaminants that absorb easily through your skin have been highlighted in orange. For those items, a Point of Entry (POE) system is recommended to treat all the water for your home/business.
